This is the first book in a series which it is hoped will form a pictorial history of the lines of the Southern Railway. The book begins with a brief overview and then notes on the origin of the various railways of the Isle of Wight. It then goes on to describe the history and routes of the Cowes & Newport Railway, The Isle of Wight (Newport Junction) Railway, The Ryde & Newport Railway, The Freshwater, Yarmouth & Newport Railway and the Newport, Godshill & St Lawrence Railway. The vast majority of the illustrations have not been used before and the book is attractively laid out, with many coloured maps and trackplans. It is a nice piece of work.
Hardcover.
The book has an additional 20 pages.
