Featuring the photography of the co-authors plus Walt Peters and M.L. “Monty” Powell, this volume boasts more than 350 photos taken during 1954-1982. A wide region of Illinois is covered with emphasis on the Springfield and Peoria areas in the “classic” 1960’s. Passenger trains of 12 roads, including early Amtrak are included. First-generation diesels-55 models from four builders-predominate, plus everyday steam of seven types are seen on B&O, C&IM, CB&Q and IC as are electrics of Illinois Terminal.
