
Locomotive scrapyards have long exerted a fascination for many enthusiasts and in this volume which covers 20 privately run sites, we take a last look at some favourite classes a few of which did not find a home in the pantheon of preservation.
The scale of these yards ranged from the massive, often consigning hundreds of locomotives to extinction, to the smaller operations that handled just a few examples.
The yards featured here range geographically from South Wales to Scotland taking in the Midlands, South Yorkshire and the North East on the way.
