For
once a different type of transport. I was quite pleased to get this shot
at Mallaig on the 22 May,as Pioneer,Glasgow arrives with the 15.15
sailing from Armadale.Built in 1974,Robb Caledon,Leith,this 67.0m vessel
has a capacity of 33 cars and 218 passengers and is normally used on
upper Clyde services. However it was recently sent north and is being
used on the Mallaig-Armadale services, pending the arrival of a brand new
vessel for this route,When the new ship enters service in July/August,Pioneer
will make one final journey to Gourock where it will be de-commissioned.Nobody
needs an excuse to visit the Highlands but to see Pioneer in its last
few weeks of service, would be a good one.
I am most grateful to
Caledonian Macbrayne for supplying the above information.
